At Alpine Academy, we have a warm and inviting setting that offers a family appeal to everyone who enters the building. We are very proud of the stellar education that we provide the students as well as the nurturing emotional support we bestow. Every teacher is an integral piece of a puzzle, which contributes to academics, sports, community involvement, and the cultivation of Christian faith.
Our kindergarten program offers a wide variety of avenues by which education is implemented in accordance with our philosophy – learning is fun!!! The following are items that enhance the kindergarten classroom, setting it apart from others in Rockford and surrounding areas:
Students are taught sign language throughout the school year.
Lessons are presented through weekly themes and topics.
Kindergarteners have fourth grade reading buddies once a week.
Cooking and/or science experiments are enjoyed every Wednesday.
Students participate in centers/stations every week.
On average, 3-4 field trips are taken every year, including Edward’s Apple Orchard and The Discovery Center.
Weekly and monthly journals are composed and bound as books to be given to parents at the end of the year.
Students also receive classroom “specials” throughout the week, including Spanish, Library, Gym, Computers, Art, and Music.
Lessons are literary based with an emphasis on phonetic decoding.
A class website allows for parents to monitor classroom activities and serves as a line of communication between parent and teacher.
All of these attributes combined with a strong core-curriculum provide a sterling learning environment. Children are encouraged to grow academically and socially in a Christian venue. Our kindergarten program serves as the foundation for a well-built college preparatory system carried out through the twelfth grade.
